Hundreds of law enforcement officers and local officials are putting all their training to the test. A two day, inter-agency drill began yesterday. Sandusky Middle School in Lynchburg is the setting for the full-scale disaster drill– organized by Lynchburg’s department of emergency services. Lt. Dave Gearhart, of the Lynchburg Police Department says a drill such as this reveals inadequacies and helps improve tactics. The scenario that played out on Wednesday, included a shooter entering the school during a teacher work day with several teachers being shot. The mock-emergency involved the school, Lynchburg General Hospital; city and county first responders. The exercise is expected to conclude today.
