On Tuesday, City Council and school board members gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony on the campus near the baseball field, while construction workers extended a line of fencing along the Wards Ferry Road entrance to the school. The current Heritage High School was built in 1976 on a tract of land bordering Timberlake and Wards Ferry roads. School officials plan to have the new building ready for students by fall of 2016 and site work complete in 2017.
