The Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is kicking off initiatives designed to reduce costs and increase reliability for members in all service areas. According to the Nelson County Times, The Lovingston-based cooperative has created two positions that will utilize new technologies to curtail theft; including incorporating computerized system with GPS capabilities to access geographic information in order to reduce tree- and vegetation-related accidents that can cause outages. The cooperative currently serves 14 counties — including Nelson, Amherst, Appomattox and Albemarle counties.
