AEP Warns of Possible Power Outages

Weather records show January 2014 will likely be the coldest January of the century. Appalachian Power set an all-time peak across its three-state region on Jan. 7, 2014. Forecasters say temperatures today and tomorrow will likely hold in the mid 20’s with overnight lows in the single digits– Factor in the wind chill values and many areas will once again be feeling air nearing sub-zero readings; which means our heating systems run longer and work harder to maintain warmth within our homes. When extreme weather conditions are predicted, Appalachian Power encourages customers to voluntarily conserve electricity to ensure adequate power supplies and to lessen the likelihood of interrupted service.
