Auto Mechanics Program Could Return To ACHS

School board members are considering whether to bring the auto mechanics program back to Appomattox County High School. The program, which was previously a part-time elective, was eliminated for this school year due to budget cuts. According to the Times Virginian, the program would only cost the school division the salary for a full time teacher. Along with restoring the auto mechanics program, other budget goals of the school board include: restoring curriculum chairs, a five-percent raise for staff, supporting the FFA convention, continuing to cover health insurance, and reinstate teaching positions at the high school. In addition, some other goals include capital improvement needs throughout the division. Once additional information is released from the General Assembly about the state budget, the school board plans to discuss the 2014-15 budget for the upcoming months.
