City Schools Rethinking Ways To Better Connect With Parents

Recently release survey data showed parents wanted to hear more positive updates about their children instead of just getting communication when a student does something wrong or there’s an upcoming event. The information was shared at the fourth annual Family Engagement Summit held last week. Lynchburg City Schools Superintendent joined other experts on the panel discussing a number of topics including ways to communicate effectively with parents on their mobile devices; efforts to poll students, parents and teachers about school culture. Sources say the division is finding success in revamping its method—including the way the schools host their open houses.
