Bob Goodlatte and Robert Hurt and several other state congressman have asked Virginia to defer action on its plans to close and sell off most of its residential centers for the disabled. In their letter to the governor, the congressional delegation, noted they’ve heard from many families regarding other service options. Officials wrote, many families have trouble finding new facilities they feel can meet their loved ones’ needs. The state plans to shutter most of its training center locations — including the Central Virginia Training Center in Madison Heights — by 2020.
