Deborah Rankin Gets Multiple Charges for Animal Hoarding

4813347_GA Lynchburg woman is facing multiple charges resulting from animal hoarding. Authorities say more than 50 animals were found at the home of 59-year old Deborah Rankin: 48 cats, 3 dogs, and one bird were seized by animal control officers. Some had to be euthanized. Last year, Rankin was charged with having unvaccinated pets in her home, but prosecutors dismissed those charges. Rankin now faces 4 felony counts of Animal Torture Causing Death; as well as 6 misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty. A court date is set for October 21st. Sources say the house was condemned, due to the deteriorating conditions.
