Discrimination Prevention Changes Are in Store for Lynchburg Schools

Lynchburg City Schools has entered into a legal agreement with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. The division will make changes aimed at preventing discrimination against black students; in 2010 the Department launched a random review to make sure African American students had the same opportunities as others. The Voluntary Resolution Agreement provides for changes to how students are recruited to gifted and advanced classes and how they are disciplined
