John Lynch Bridge Receives A Five Year Inspections

Underwater bridge inspection is a job specialist with thousands of hours of combined training and experience. For two commercial divers, much of the day Tuesday was spent about 25 feet under the James River beneath the bridge that carries traffic from Lynchburg into Madison Heights. The inspection included examination of the underwater foundation and feeling for small holes; sources say nothing unusual in the bridge pilings and footings was found. The five-year inspection cycle for bridges is required by the Federal Highway Administration.
