From the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office: On Saturday afternoon, May 30, 1015, a Bedford County Sheriff’s deputy was transporting a female to the Bedford Adult Detention Center, when she kicked the back door window glass out of his patrol vehicle. The female, Kristin N. Forbes, age 26, had been arrested at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park by a park police officer for public intoxication. The arresting officer requested a police vehicle with a cage to transport her. After kicking the window glass out, she attempted to escape out of the broken window. As the deputy attempted to restrain her she assaulted him. A second sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene and she was placed in the sheriff’s office transport van. Kristin N. Forbes, of Lynchburg, was charged with public intoxication, obstruction of justice (resist arrest), destruction of property and assault on a police officer.
