Man takes more than $1,000 in whitening strips from Amherst Co. Walmart

From the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office: The office is investigating a large larceny of Crest Whitening Strips. On April 28th shortly after 630pm, a single black male entered Wal-Mart on South Amherst Highway and took over $1,000 in whitening products. This male is described as being between 30 and 40 years of age, over six feet tall, 180’ to 200’ wearing a ball cap, tan pants and a black shirt. He left the area in a silver Toyota sedan. Whitening products have increasingly been stolen on a regional and national basis. It seems these products are a hit with younger people and it is thought that these large thefts are then used to resell at a steeply reduced price. Anyone that has any information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information regarding this crime. All information is totally confidential.
