More Money Requested For City School Budget

LynchburgCitySchoolsThe Superintendent with Lynchburg City Schools has requesting an addition of $5 million in the budget for next school. The proposal, which covers a wide range of expenditures, was brought before the City School Board last night. A portion of the money would cover increased employer rates for Virginia Retirement System benefits; other priorities include strategic pay increases for some categories of staff; a $1 per hour wage increase for school bus drivers. School board members requested additional information; encouraged finding savings within the current budget and suggested the department identify items that could be covered through grants or community sponsorships.
