The 42nd Appomattox Railroad Festival will remain a two-day event. The Appomattox Town Council announced last year that the private sector needed to take over the festival because the Town’s budget could no longer withstand that kind of taxpayer investment. And so, for the first time without the oversight of the Town, a special committee of volunteer citizens has taken on the responsibility of putting on the annual festival this fall. The railroad festival committee is in the process of securing 501-3-C non-profit status and seeking sponsorships. The event is planned for Oct. 11-12. CLICK HERE to learn more about the event.
