Next month’s election will be the first since a new ID law took effect figures released this week show how many voters are without photo identification. Election officials say as of Monday statewide, a total of 1,862 residents have requested a free voter ID, 75 of them, did so regionally. Based on a cross-reference of the voter rolls and DMV records, an estimated 4% are still without ID. But state officials say it doesn’t take into account other eligible forms of ID, including passports, college student IDs or employer-issued IDs. Election Day is Nov. 4th; Free IDs can be obtained by contacting your local registrar’s office.
