No One Seems Opposed to Cigarette Tax

Pack of cigarettes, close-upAppomattox residents made no comment on a possible 27-cent cigarette tax. Sources say no one spoke out against the proposed ordinance during a public hearing held by Town Council on Tuesday.  The suggestion is to charge a 27-cent tax per every 20 cigarettes sold. If approved, the cigarette tax would be used to pay for the general fund expenditures.  The matter will be decided during a budget vote meeting set for June 9.
