Nuclear Reactor Shuts Power Down to One Pump

One reactor at Dominion Virginia Power’s North Anna power station is shut down following a pump malfunction. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the control room staff initiated a manual shutdown of Unit 2 after the reactor’s main feed-water pump shut down Sunday night. The commission says Unit 1 wasn’t affected and continues to operate at full power. The Associated Press reports that Unit 2 will remain shut down while officials investigate the pump malfunction.
