Paving of Rural Roads In Amherst County Could become Priority

The Virginia Department of Transportation is looking to Amherst County officials for input on future potential road projects; and the wish list of potential projects presented that the county earlier this month, could become priorities in an updated six-year plan. Some of the listed roads were included because of high traffic counts, while others are high-maintenance roads. Paving of a number of rural roads is included on the proposed projects. Six year plans are updated annually; VDOT is currently working on a draft to include fiscal year 2020 that will be presented at a public hearing at a later board meeting.
