Prosecutor: Jamisha Gilbert died from hypothermia — hear his entire statement here

Jamisha GilbertLynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Doucette says 18-year-old Jamisha Gilbert died from hypothermia, the death ruled an accident, and no criminal charges will be filed. Gilbert was involved in a late night crash last November, and Doucette said today there is considerable evidence she suffered from hypothermia, eventually lying down in a thickly wooded area in temperatures that fell below 20 degrees.  As for the three young men who shared marijuana with Jamisha that night, they will not be charged. Doucette  said it was more important to put all the facts in the case before the public as soon as possible. Even misdemeanor charges would have required much of the information released today to remain undisclosed until all the cases made their way through the courts.
