Positive Sign for Future Campbell County Firing Range

CampbellCountyThe Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has been trying to build a firing range to train deputies for about eight years. Last night, the board of supervisors, considered the suggestion, that up until now has been rejected. News & Advance reports, Campbell county police officers currently uses a firing range in Lynchburg but only can secure it for two weeks– according to the article, it is becoming more difficult for officers to get time at the range because city officers and the Blue Ridge Regional Jail’s staff have been using it more. Last night, the board of supervisors, considered the suggestion, and ruled that a master plan be created and brought before the board again next summer. It will then need to go to the planning commission and back to the supervisors for a formal vote for a special use permit.
