Public Schools Learning Ways to Improve Meals

Healthy_Hunger_Free_Kids_Act-300x233Public school food directors are learning ways to improve meals for students. Changes to the cafeteria lunch-line begin this fall and will focus on healthy, appealing meals as part of the Federal “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.” Chefs from Rich’s Foods this week, showed some local school cooks how to make foods that meet the new guidelines. The nutrition manager for Bedford County Schools, Karen Arthur says the options round out a student’s overall diet with healthy eating habits… Cafeteria managers from Lynchburg City Schools also received demonstrations on Tuesday. Other school districts will follow in the coming weeks.
