Shoveling The Snow Is the Resident’s Responsibility

With a predicted high total accumulation of 12 to 14 inches—a lot of snow will need to be shoveled from this storm. According to City Code, it is the duty of the occupant of every dwelling to have all snow removed from sidewalks and footways within four (4) hours after snow has stopped. If the snow ends at night, sidewalks and footways must be cleared by 12:00 p.m. the following day. Save work by shoveling driveways AFTER the City plows have passed your residents. Snow removed from driveways and parking lots should not be thrown into the street or onto the sidewalk. During and after the storm, Lynchburg will provide updates on the snow removal process through its website,
