Snow Will Be Heavy And Could Cause Power Issues

A winter storm is on the way– Officials say because the snow is expected to be heavy and wet, there’s a good likelihood that it will bring down trees. Heavy snow can build up on tree branches and cause them to snap. When those branches hang over power lines, the result can be a loss of electricity. Southside Electric Cooperative has secured nearly 200 additional linemen from contractors and co-ops in states not affected by the storm.” Assistance from private contract crews and co-op personnel in states as far away as Alabama, Arkansas, and Kentucky has been confirmed. Members should report interruptions of service at www.sec.coop or call 1-866-878-5514. For AEP customers, call 800-956-4237 to report power outages.
