Snow Will Slow Down Response Time For Police, Fire & Rescue

As the snow begins to pile up tonight, road condition could become treacherous. Officials say response times for first responders will likely be slowed. Motorists are urged to avoid driving during the snow storm because of slick road conditions. Authorities say chains or snow tires are required when streets are snow covered. Both fire and police departments will have full staff on hand tonight and tomorrow to deal with a potential influx of calls– BUT, authorities say they will be taking it easy and therefore, their response times will inevitably be impacted. The Virginia State Police will also extend shifts and have additional troopers on patrol to expedite response times to traffic crashes and disabled motorists.
