Supervisors Will Consider Priorities While School Board Works On Budget

The Nelson County School Board has approved a priority request list and proposed an operational budget for its 2014-2015 Capital Improvement Plan. The News & Advance reports, the proposed budget anticipates a potential $1 million budget shortfall, based on forecasted revenue. According to the article, the school board will continue reviewing and crafting the proposed budget over the next few months, with several work sessions already scheduled. A public hearing on the operational budget is scheduled for the board’s special called meeting on Jan. 23. The board anticipates to have approved a proposed operational budget by mid-March, which then will be presented to the county administration. A date for a joint meeting with the board of supervisors is still to be determined.
