Tomorrow is Election Day in Lynchburg:

The council elections are the only race on the ballot. Six candidates are running, and each voter can cast a ballot for up to three of them. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Curbside voting will be offered for elderly and disabled voters who cannot go inside their polling place. Those voters will need to be accompanied by someone who can bring their ID inside and speak with election officials.

Officials remind voters heading to the polls tomorrow that the same voter identification requirements as recent years still are in place. Some acceptable forms of ID currently are: a valid Virginia driver’s license or other government-issued ID; employer-issued photo ID; student ID from a Virginia college; voter identification card; Social Security card; or current utility bill or bank statement with name and address on it. The new standards passed last year requiring photo I.D do not go into effect until July.

The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company will be offering free public transit on Election Day. GLTC is offering a fare-free day on all regular fixed-route bus service to help voters get to the polls. The service is being offered in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Lynchburg.
