Training Center Bill Needs Revisions

A bill intended to assure residents who live at Central Virginia Training Center in Madison Heights and other state run training centers could receive equal or better care if they move to community housing was scrutinized by subcommittee members on Monday. The bill would require a written promise of equal care to residents with intellectual disabilities. But according to media outlets, the panel felt some of its assurances would go too far and cost too much; saying the fiscal impact is indeterminate. Committee staffers were requested to submit a slimmer version to the full Senate Finance Committee today.
