The Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) 50th Annual Suzuki Festival takes place this Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Lynchburg City Stadium starting at 2pm. The Suzuki Festival involves a combination of approximately 500 LCS elementary and middle school string students performing on the field together. This event is free and open to the public.
The LCS elementary schools use the Suzuki Method, adapted for public school. The program was piloted in 4 elementary schools in 1970-1971. It was so successful that it was placed in all schools the following year. Due to Covid-19, there was no festival in 2020 and the 2021 festival was live streamed. We are excited to return to a live performance and the first Suzuki Festival to be held outdoors.
In the case of inclement weather the rain date is Sunday May 22, 2022. For more information please contact Ginger Paris, LCS Director of Strings (email parisgw@lcsedu.net or cell 434-610-7908).
