A stream of information was flowing Thursday regarding the Kanawha Canal and its future as an attraction for riverfront activities. City Manager Kimball Payne says the project, which is part of the master plan for downtown revitalization, is at this point in the preliminary stage. The News & Advance reports, earlier suggestions of the canal once again becoming a waterway is not a sustainable option though other recommendation are feasible. The price of the project has not been discussed, but according to the article, Amazement Square has been mentioned as a likely partner in raising funds and attracting grants.
