A Lynchburg man is behind bars for having thousands of dollars in counterfeit bills. Shortly before 3am yesterday, a Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over 19-year-old Demarie Jamir Banks at the intersection of Lawyers Rd. and Wards Road. The officer found 28 ounces of marijuana along with $4,000.00 in counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills. Banks is being held without bond.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Suspect Charged with Possession of Substances; Counterfeit Bills RUSTBURG, VA – On Monday, May 23, 2022 at approximately 0245 hours, a Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the 13000 block of Wards Rd. The deputy observed a red in color Chevrolet pickup (P/U) stopped at the red light at the intersection of Lawyers Rd. and Wards Rd. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.
After a vehicle search was conducted, approximately 28 ounces of marijuana was seized, along with $4,000.00 in counterfeit one hundred dollar bills.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Demarie Jamir Banks, age 19 of Lynchburg, was charged with Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and Possession of ten or more counterfeit bills. Charges for possession of controlled substanceare pending lab results.
Banks was transported to the Lynchburg Blue Ridge Regional Jail and is being held with no bond.
