From Lynchburg Police: On April 10, 2016 at 7:53 p.m. Officers of the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a malicious wounding at the Neighborhood Market convenience store located at 1531 Park Avenue in the City of Lynchburg, VA. Upon Arrival, Officers found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his hand and chest. The victim, 43 year old Dewayne Jackson of of Lynchburg, reported that a male confronted him in front of the store and shot him. The victim was subsequently treated and released from Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Subsequent to investigation the suspect was identified as 47 year old Leroy Colbert Hubbard Jr. of Lynchburg, VA. Hubbard was taken into custody without incident hours after the shooting. Hubbard is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Hubbard is in custody and being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
