
From Lynchburg Police: On 10-04-2016 the Lynchburg Police Department received information from the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, VA, regarding the online sharing of child pornography by a computer in Lynchburg. An investigation was conducted by Lynchburg Police Department’s Forensics Unit and it was determined that the computer in question was located at a residence in the 300 block of McConville Road. On 10-21-2016 a search warrant was obtained and executed by officers with the Lynchburg Police Department at a residence located in the 300 block of McConville Road. Multiple electronic devices were seized during the search of the residence. Forensic analysis of the devices by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Forensics Unit resulted in the discovery of multiple files of child pornography being located on the devices. As a result of the investigation, Patrick Leigh Soals, age 24, of Lynchburg was charged on 10-31-2016 with 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography 1st Offense and 9 counts of Possession of Child Pornography 2nd Offense. Patrick Soals is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority’s Lynchburg Adult Detention Center without bond. The Lynchburg Police Department is an affiliate task force member of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
