Lynchburg man identified as fatal ATV accident victim

From Virginia State Police:  Senior Trooper J. E. Edgell is investigating a ATV fatal crash which occurred on Hawkins Mill Road (Route 660) at 9:30 pm, March 17, 2016 in Bedford County. A 2014 side by side ATV was traveling east on Hawkins Mill Road with a driver and a passenger, when it ran off the right side of the roadway, lost control, then crossed the roadway and struck the trees. The ATV was driven by Christopher Todd Dixon, 41, of Lynchburg, Va. Mr. Dixon was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The passenger Robert Gilroy Shelton III was injured and transported to a Lynchburg hospital.  The crash remains under investigation. There have been no charges filed.
