
Lynchburg Police UPDATE: On January 8, 2019 Officers and Detectives of the Lynchburg Police Department with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the following individual in reference to this case. 15 year old juvenile male resident of Lynchburg who has been charged with the following: Murder – in violation of 18.2-32 – Code of Virginia. Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony – in violation of 18-2-53.1 – Code of Virginia. This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone who may have additional knowledge or information in reference to this case is asked to contact Det. Miller.
Original story September 16, 2018: Lynchburg Police are looking for the person who fatally shot an 18-year-old city resident over the weekend. Police were called early Sunday morning to a shots fired call on the 2000 block of 3rd Street, where they found Keshawn Dickerson with gunshot wounds. He died later under hospital treatment. Police ask anyone who was in that area at the time to contact them.
News release: On September 16, 2018, just after midnight, officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the 2000 block of 3rd Street for the report of a malicious wounding. Multiple callers reported hearing gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a subject inside a residence with an apparent gunshot wound. The subject was transported by medics to the Lynchburg General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The male is identified as Keshawn Lamont Dickerson, an 18-year-old resident of Lynchburg. At this time, this is an ongoing and active investigation.
