On Friday, January 16 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., children ages 8 to 12 are invited to the Lynchburg Museum to learn about the history of pirates on the James — Blackbeard, Ann Bonny, Mary Read and others. This hands-on fun is part of the exhibit, Experience the James: Lynchburg’s Pathway to the World. In addition to pirates, the exhibit features plants and animals found along the James, early settlements, Native Americans, batteau life, and more. Activities will include a scavenger hunt and making a pirate hat, eye patch, pirate flag, and ship! Snacks of pizza, popcorn and juice will be provided while the kids watch a movie.
Advance registration is required, and the fee is $25 per child. For more information and to register, contact Whitney Roberts, Museum Educator at whitney.roberts@lynchburgva.gov or call 455-4424.
