UPDATE: A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged for threatening E.C. Glass students and faculty via text messages. Lynchburg investigators say they have been conducting interviews, and police say they are working with school officials to provide a safe environment at Glass. The male juvenile is reported to have acted alone.
From Lynchburg Police: As a result of the cooperative investigative efforts between the Lynchburg Police Department and the E.C. Glass High School Administration team, the LPD Criminal Investigations Division has identified a 15-year-old male juvenile suspect who is responsible for the threats received by students and teachers. All indications up to this point are that this juvenile acted alone. This juvenile is currently in custody and multiple charges are being sought for violating VA Code 18.-60: “Threats of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family; threats to commit serious bodily harm to persons on school property.” The juvenile was transported to the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges may be obtained. The Lynchburg Police Department would like to express its appreciation to all the faculty and students of E.C. Glass High School who assisted with this investigation.
