The Amherst County Service Authority board has voted to resume fluoridation at its water filtration plant in Madison Heights. The service authority ceased fluoridation at its Madison Heights water filtration plant in March 2011. Sources say the Public Utilities Director approached the board after receiving a letter in 2013 l from the Department of Health encouraging the resumption of the practice. The board voted to hold off on the practice in December 2013 as a temporary measure during equipment relocation and plant upgrades. The practice was reinstated on Tuesday.
