Meetings to Be Held to Discuss Possible School Closing

Bedford County School Board must decide next month which school, or schools, to close in order to fulfill state Senate Finance Committee requirements. On May 15, school officials announced the possible closure of Bedford Primary School and Moneta Elementary School. The school board is now considering closing Moneta or Body Camp elementary schools. Parents set up meetings in each community Sunday to rally support; and urged residents that oppose the closing of the schools to attend upcoming meetings on the matter. The Bedford County School Board will hold a regular meeting, which is open to the public, in the conference room at the school board office on Thursday at 7pm. A Public Hearing is planned on June 2.
