Lynchburg City Council has requested more information on a proposal that designates Riverside Park’s internal road as a public street in order to reestablish it as a gateway to Treasure Island. Liberty University plans to revitalize the island as a sight for outdoor recreation; and hopes to rebuild the vehicular bridge that once connected the island to the park. The News & Advance reports, Council did not commit itself to LU’s proposal on Tuesday, but did request a fuller plan and compiled a list of issues it wants to see addressed in the final proposal. According to the article, the issue was referred back to staff for further development. No hard deadline was set for its return.
