Authorities say the motorcycle wreck that killed an Amherst County teenager on Sunday afternoon involved a stolen vehicle and a high speed chase. According to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy tried to pull 19-year-old William Clements over for speeding but Clements continued to accelerate, leading to a chase, in which the motorcycle exceeded speeds of 100 mph. The motorcycle with passenger 18-year-old Zachary Trent crashed into a guardrail near Dairy Road, in the area of Sweet Briar College. Both were taken to the hospital where Trent later died. The motorcycle they were riding was reported stolen from Coolwell Road on July 10. An investigation is ongoing.
