The cause of a brush fire in Bedford County Saturday is under investigation. Officials with the Virginia Department of Forestry says the fire was contained and extinguished, but not before the blaze scorched nearly 20 acres of land off Cifax Road in Forest. Media outlets report, crews with the Forest Fire Department saw smoke from the fire and called in other departments around 1 o’clock. Firefighters from Bedford, Big Island, Boonsboro, and Campbell County responded to the scene. A Warden with the Department of Forestry says without their support, the fire could have been much worse.
