As of Thursday evening, Lynchburg Police are not yet releasing the name of the woman found dead of a gunshot wound Thursday morning at the Hillcrest apartments. People who live there tell us it followed a lengthy overnight domestic dispute. The shooting was reported around 6:45 am, just as many people there were preparing to head to work or send their children to school. From Lynchburg Police: On September 29, 2016 at approximately 06:47 a.m., the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the 500-block of Hillside Court to investigate a report that there was a subject with a gunshot wound at that location. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a deceased adult female with an apparent gunshot wound. A firearm was also recovered at the scene. Identification of the deceased female is being withheld at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
