A tentative agreement has been reached with a nonprofit conservation organization to purchase Natural Bridge. The historic landmark and its surrounding properties and accompanying attractions went up for sale in May. Officials have not released how much the property is being sold for. In 2007, the entire Rockbridge County property was put up for sale for $39 million, but the ensuing economic recession kept buyers away. The agreement with the nonprofit organization includes purchasing the entire 1,600 acres and the organization’s plan is to get it into a park system. Confirmation of the purchase and the new owner is expected to come in mid-December.
