The Bedford County School Board is expected to approve a management firm to facilitate construction of a new middle school to serve the Liberty High School attendance zone. According to the schools public relations coordinator, the firm will oversee education specifications, provide advice on what should be built, recommend an architectural firm and serve as an onsite manager for construction. The project is part of the reversion agreement between Bedford County and the city, now town, of Bedford. The next step is to decide whether to build a new high school and converting Liberty into a middle school or building a combined facility. A discussion on that matter will take place and decisions will likely be made at a joint meeting between the school board and the Board of Supervisors on Jan. 30.
