Amherst County schools have taken extra measures to deter motorists from running school bus stop signs. The New Era Progress reports, the county has added eight exterior cameras to the sides of school buses over the past several weeks. When the stop sign is activated, the outside cameras switch on. If a vehicle passes a school bus when the stop sign is deployed, the cameras record the action. Motorists potentially could be found guilty of reckless driving for driving past a school bus stop sign. According to the article, all 73-division maintained buses are equipped with interior monitoring cameras.
