The Campbell County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will host its first annual Senior to Senior event on Monday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. – noon and 1 – 3 p.m. at the Campbell County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 163 Kabler Lane, Rustburg. The event will serve as the county’s MLK Service Day Project. The purpose of the event is to engage senior citizens and high school students to learn from one another. It will be led by the Campbell County Youth Advisory Council and the Campbell County Senior Advisory Council.
The Youth Advisory Council and other high school students will teach older adults how to use their electronic devices, including cell phones, iPads and other tablets, and laptops. They can also help with social media. You need to bring your own device to participate. The Senior Advisory Council and older adults will teach high school students how to survive without technology and about skills such as canning, gardening, substitution of household items, sewing, and knitting.
