Former astronaut and Lynchburg native Leland Melvin spoke at Randolph College on Thursday. Now twice-retired from NASA, Melvin was the keynote speaker at weekend kickoff of the 2014 Scifest event on campus. The veteran of two space flights has spent more than 560 hours in space; visited the International Space Station and logged three space walks. Melvin encouraged students to attend the screening of the movie “Gravity” tonight. Other activities are scheduled all weekend for science festival;
