Liberty Christian Academy anounces three new spring head coaches

Lynchburg Christian Academy Logo LCAFrom Liberty Christian Academy: The Liberty Christian Academy Athletics Department is proud to announce the appointment of three new spring season athletic coaches.

Morgan Pate has been hired as LCA’s softball coach. Pate comes to LCA after serving on Coach Dot Richardson’s staff at Liberty University the past two seasons. She was a starting catcher at Appalachian State and graduated in 2011. Pate coached two seasons of high school softball and travel ball in the Richmond area before joining Richardson’s staff. Pate works for Notus Sports in Charlottesville, VA, as a sports marketing professional.

Sidney Beyler will coach the LCA girl’s tennis team. She was a four-year scholarship student-athlete in tennis at University of California Davis and co-captained the team her senior year in 2011.

David Ahrens will serve as the boy’s lacrosse coach in the program’s fourth season of existence. Ahrens was a 4 year letterman in lacrosse at VMI from ’87-’91 and is still listed in the VMI record book as the #3 all-time ground ball winner. He was the team captain in his senior year. He also played three years of soccer while at VMI. Ahrens has coached recreation league lacrosse for 7 years and is a US lacrosse certified official, which he has done for two years.
