Lynchburg man charged with ramming wife’s vehicle, firing shots at her as she attempted to run away

A Lynchburg is charged with ramming his wife’s van Friday evening, then firing shots at his wife and a juvenile female as they attempted to run away from him. Police say 58-year-old Curtis Thrasher was taken into custody early Saturday morning and is currently jailed without bond. Police say the incidents began at a gas station on Timberlake Road and continued to the woman’s residence on Old Graves Mill Road. A nearby citizen witnessed the gunshots and began firing at Thrasher in defense of the victims. No one was hit by any of the gunfire.

On 03-04-2016 at approximately 1828 hours Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to 629 Old Graves Mill Road in reference to shots fired. Upon Officers arrival on the scene they spoke with the victim who advised that her husband, Curtis Edward Thrasher, (w/m age 58 of Lynchburg), fired several shots at her and a Juvenile female that was with her. The victim advised that she was at the Shell Station located at 7719 Timberlake Road when Curtis Edward Thrasher rammed her van with his Chevrolet truck. The victim attempted to elude Thrasher at which time he followed her to her residence at 629 Old Graves Mill Road. As the victim pulled in the driveway, Thrasher rammed her van a second time. The victim and her juvenile passenger got out of the van and ran through the woods behind the residence as Thrasher began firing a handgun at both subjects.

A citizen who was working on a vehicle in the garage behind 629 Graves Mill Road observed the incident and began firing a handgun at Edward Thrasher in defense of the victim and the juvenile. Thrasher then abandoned his Chevrolet Truck and stole the victim’s van which was still running in the driveway. The van was later recovered behind Lynchburg Fire Department number# 8 on Old Graves Mill Road.

Curtis Edward Thrasher fled the scene in an unknown direction on foot. Thrasher was wearing dark clothing at the time of incident. Thrasher is considered armed and dangerous. None of the subjects involved in the incident were struck by gunfire. However the juvenile complained of back pain from being rammed by the suspect’s truck. This incident is Domestic related.

(3) 1 count-18.2-308.2 Possession of a Firearm by convicted Felon. (4)1 count- 18.2-137 intentionally destroy, deface, or damage a vehicle. (5) 2 count 18.2-57 Assault and battery vehicle. (6) 2 counts 18.2-57.2 Assault and battery family or household member. (7)1 count 18.2-95 steal a motor vehicle. (8) 1 count- 16.1-253.2 Violate a protective order.
