From Lynchburg Police: On October 23rd, 2016 at approximately 07:41 Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Food Zone located at 1221 Rivermont Ave. An employee and witness reported that an unknown subject entered the business and demanded money.
The subject was pointing a possible weapon at the employee, however, it was undetermined what that may have been due to the suspect having it covered bythe sleeve of their sweatshirt. The suspect also had their face completely covered by cinching up their hood on their sweatshirt. The suspect then fled onfoot with an undisclosed amount of money. The witness followed the suspectand observed them begin to shed some of their outer clothing. The suspect waslast seen on Amherst St. in between Bedford Ave. and Pansy St. No injurieswere reported.The suspect is described by the witness as follows: A light-skinned black male,approximately 5’4 to 5’6, and approximately 145 lbs. The suspect was initiallywearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, baseball hat and dark pants. However, the suspect did shed the sweatshirt
